A bespoke removals service for Mayfair residents
Every Mayfair move is different, and our service is designed to reflect that. With our comprehensive shipping options, experienced Coordinators, and trusted global partners, each relocation is thoughtfully designed around your home, your contents, and your preferred timeline.
Our clients in Mayfair most often move to one of three destinations.
-
Internationally
Some are relocating internationally, whether to Monaco, the south of France, Switzerland, Singapore, or across the Atlantic to New York, Los Angeles, or Dallas.
-
Across the UK
Others are consolidating their London residence with a country home in the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, or the West Country.
-
Another London Property
A third group is moving to another prime London postcode such as Chelsea, Knightsbridge, Belgravia, Holland Park, or St John’s Wood.
Whichever of these describes your move, our Relocation Specialists bring the experience and care to see it through seamlessly. Discretion is woven through everything we do, and every enquiry is handled on that basis from the initial consultation to the final delivery.

How your Mayfair move is coordinated
Discretion, precision, and a single point of accountability are the principles a Williams and Yates move is built around. Your Move Coordinator oversees the entire process personally, from the first conversation to the final placement, and remains your direct contact throughout, supported by our in-house crews, climate-controlled storage, and a trusted network of international partners.
Your in-home survey
Your Mayfair move begins with a private, in-home survey conducted by a senior member of our team. Every detail is considered: access, inventory, specialist handling, scheduling, and any liaison required with building concierge, estate office, or your receiving property. From there, your Coordinator handles the practical arrangements on your behalf, Westminster parking suspensions, estate office approvals where your property forms part of the Grosvenor Estate, and vehicle selection. The plan is shared with you in advance, with every stage accounted for.
Packing, transit, and storage
The packing of your Mayfair home is carried out by our own in-house crews, working to the standards our clients expect for properties of this calibre. Fine art, antiques, and commissioned pieces are measured and bespoke crates are built, with formal condition reporting where the value or nature of a piece requires it. Our fleet includes climate-controlled vehicles for specialist items, and where onward delivery is delayed, our London storage facility provides secure, climate-controlled, and fully inventoried holding.
Delivery and placement
At the receiving end, our crews unpack and place each piece according to the specifications agreed with you, your household manager, private assistant, or interior designer. All packaging is removed, the property is left as requested, and the move closes with a final review to confirm every detail has been handled as it should.

Moving from Mayfair overseas and across the UK
Few London addresses see the range of onward destinations that Mayfair does, and your Relocation Manager is here to guide each stage of that journey with precision and discretion. Our international partner network, combined with our in-house expertise across customs clearance, specialist packing, expedited shipping, and final placement, ensures that every element of your move is handled with the care a Mayfair relocation deserves.
When your next residence is overseas, whether in Europe, the US, the Middle East, or Asia such as Hong Kong or Singapore, we manage the complete chain: origin packing at your Mayfair property, road, sea, or air freight, destination clearance, and delivery. Transfer of Residence relief is applied on entry to the receiving country where you are eligible, helping to minimise duty on your personal effects.
For those moving to a country residence in the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, or the West Country, your Coordinator takes charge of both ends of the move, including any storage arrangements where a Mayfair residence is being retained alongside the country property. For shorter journeys to Knightsbridge, Belgravia, Chelsea, or Holland Park, the planning is no less considered, and moves between listed and conservation-area homes in central London receive the same attention to detail as any international relocation.

Local considerations for a Mayfair move
Mayfair sits within the Mayfair Conservation Area, which covers the entirety of the district, and many of the Georgian townhouses and garden square properties are individually listed. Combined with the estate ownership that still shapes much of the area, the embassy and diplomatic presence, and the exceptionally tight street access, moves from this part of London benefit from a thoughtful, well-prepared approach.
Parking, access, and Westminster permissions
Mayfair sits within the City of Westminster, which operates controlled parking across W1J and W1K. Parking bay suspensions are arranged in advance as a standard part of our service, with your Coordinator applying to Westminster City Council on your behalf. The streets of Mayfair, Park Lane, Curzon Street, Mount Street, South Audley Street, Charles Street, and the lanes off Berkeley Square and Grosvenor Square, are exceptionally tight for loading, with strict Westminster enforcement. Our crews are familiar with the area and plan arrival windows to minimise disruption to neighbouring residents, embassies, and businesses.
The Grosvenor Estate and garden squares
A substantial portion of Mayfair’s residential properties sit within the Grosvenor Estate, and access and works within these properties are governed by estate office approval in addition to standard building protocols. Where your property is part of the Grosvenor Estate, or backs onto Grosvenor Square, Berkeley Square, or Hanover Square, your Coordinator liaises with the estate office or managing agent ahead of your moving date to ensure every access and logistical consideration is in order.

The homes of MayfairThe homes of Mayfair
The area’s housing stock ranges from grand Georgian townhouses to mansion blocks and modern penthouse developments. Two property types stand out for the specific expertise they require.
Listed Georgian townhouses
The Georgian townhouses of Mount Street, South Audley Street, Charles Street, Hill Street, and the streets around Berkeley and Grosvenor Squares are the architectural signature of Mayfair. Many are individually listed, and moves from these properties require careful planning to protect original features, period panelling, and grand staircases. Our team plans multi-floor removals with original features carefully protected, uses external lifting equipment where furniture cannot be moved via the stairwell, and ensures full compliance with listed building consent where applicable. Where required, we liaise directly with the freeholder, estate office, managing agent, or conservation officer on your behalf.
Penthouses and modern mansion blocks
The recent developments of Clarges Mayfair, No.1 Grosvenor Square, and similar buildings bring penthouse apartments and highly specified interiors to the heart of the district. These properties call for careful lift scheduling, porter and concierge coordination, strict load-in protocols, and adherence to each building’s security arrangements. Your Move Coordinator handles all building liaison and scheduling, so that you and your household are not drawn into the logistics.
Specialists in fine art, antiques, and family treasures
Mayfair has long been the heart of London’s art market. With Cork Street, New Bond Street, Albemarle Street, and the adjacent auction houses within a few minutes’ walk, the homes we serve across W1J and W1K frequently contain art, antiques, and family pieces that require specialist handling. Every significant piece leaving your Mayfair home is condition reported and photographed, crated to order where required, and transported in climate-controlled vehicles specified for the value and fragility of the contents they carry. Where the receiving property is not yet ready, items are held in our climate-controlled London storage facility, fully secured and inventoried for as long as is needed.
A recent Mayfair move
An international private principal engaged Williams and Yates to coordinate the relocation of their primary London residence, a lateral apartment within a Grosvenor Estate mansion block on Mount Street. The move was the final stage in a phased consolidation, the client having retained the Mayfair apartment while relocating the majority of their household to a primary residence in Switzerland with us the previous autumn. This move was to clear and close the London residence, with the entire contents distributed across multiple receiving destinations.
The client’s private office oversaw the project and was the sole point of contact throughout. Every communication, document, and decision was routed through the principal’s family office manager, with strict discretion applied to addresses, inventory, and timings.
The Mount Street mansion block sits within the Grosvenor Estate and is subject to the estate’s access and works approvals in addition to standard listed building protocols. Our Move Coordinator submitted the estate office application twelve working days ahead of the move, coordinated a single-morning loading window with the building’s head concierge, and arranged a Westminster parking suspension for a dedicated lorry on Mount Street. The entire move was completed before midday to minimise disruption to the residence above and the restaurant below.
The contents fell into two groups. The first was moving their remaining items to their Swiss residence. The second group, comprising a selection of works the principal wished to place with family members, was delivered to three separate UK addresses over the following fortnight, each accompanied by our crew and a condition report countersigned on receipt. No single element of the move required the principal’s direct involvement. The family office manager noted that the project was closed within the agreed budget and timeline, and the Mount Street residence was handed back to the managing agent in broom-clean condition the following working day.
Welcoming you to Mayfair
A significant proportion of our Mayfair work involves clients arriving in the area, whether taking up a new London residence, returning after time abroad, or establishing a pied-a-terre alongside an existing home elsewhere. International arrivals are supported through port clearance, Transfer of Residence relief applications where applicable, and discreet delivery to your new Mayfair address, with any liaison required with the Grosvenor Estate, your building concierge, or your managing agent handled by our team. Our climate-controlled London storage facility is available throughout, for clients whose receiving property is undergoing works or whose arrival is being staged across a longer timeline.
Accreditations and assurance
The standards we hold ourselves to are formalised in our FIDI and FAIM accreditations, recognised internationally as the benchmark for cross-border household relocations, and in our membership of the British Association of Removers. For a Mayfair move, transit and storage insurance is calibrated to the values involved, and the specifics are reviewed openly with you at survey stage. We do not disclose client identities, we do not photograph residences without written permission, and every member of our team is bound by a confidentiality agreement from their first day in the business.
